SlabLab Research Consent & Confidentiality Terms

1 ABOUT THIS PROJECT

“SlabLab” is a research project that aims to better understand backcountry skiers’ experience of the sport, including meeting partners, trip planning, making decisions, education and other relevant topics. You are free to stop participating at any time for any reason and without penalty, including in the middle of an interview.

We are real humans trying to produce quality work for those who indulge in the sports we love. Most of the agreements below are just so you know how we plan to protect and and use what you share with us. Some of it protects us. We do our best to collect only what we need. We aren't here to share your powder stashes or accidents. If you have any questions or concerns at all, let us know at hello@slablab.co

2 CONFIDENTIALITY

All personal information (defined as information about you that can be used to identify, contact or locate you) that you disclose to the project team during this session is confidential. Unless required by law or to protect the rights of any person, the project team agrees not to disclose any personal information you provide to us, including your personal data, to any third party beyond the project team without your permission.

3 MEDIA CONSENT

You are allowed to access any data we collect from any interview, questionnaire or other activity and request that it be deleted for any reason. If participating in interviews you may ask for any recording device to be turned off at any point in the session, even after signing below.

Use of media on the team

In order to do a quality job of analyzing our research we frequently refer back to transcripts, recordings, photos and other data. If submitting a form or data you give the SlabLab team permission to use the entirety of your submission and any files and ideas contained therein, in whole or in part, including any modifications, compilations and other works based on your data, for any purpose related to our research analysis.

If you participate in an interview or submit audio or video recordings, you give us permission to film, photograph and record your name, likeness, voice, image and any ideas you share with us (“Media”) and for the SlabLab  team to use the Media and any ideas contained therein, in whole or in part, including any modifications, compilations and other works based on the Media, for any purpose related to our research analysis.

Use of media in the report and publicly

In order to help our whole community benefit from this work we publish what we learn in a public research report, promote that report, and create relevant resources. You grant members of the SlabLab team all rights to your data and “Media” (audio, footage, photographs or other image of your likeness) and confirm that this media was submitted and/or recorded with your knowledge and consent. You grant SlabLab the unconditional right to use anonymized quotes as written text. You grant SlabLab the unconditional right to use submitted data and files when used in an anonymized or aggregated way where your data can't be used to identify you. We will ask for your approval for public use of any other media or for personal attribution. For data and media that SlabLab has your permission to use, you grant SlabLab and partner organizations the unconditional rights to use this data or media, in whole or in part without SlabLab owing you any form of compensation.
