1. OverviewSlabLab LLC (“SlabLab,” “we,” or “us”) operates the SlabLab mobile apps and website (slablab.co), a community for backcountry skiers to connect, share experiences, and keep learning.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using SlabLab's website or applications, you agree to this policy.
We’re based in the United States, and our services are intended for users 18 years and older residing in the U.S.
2. Information We CollectWe collect information you provide when you create an account, post content, or communicate with us, as well as limited technical data when you use our service.
Account InformationWe collect your email address and name when you create an account. You may optionally provide a photo, skill level, backcountry experience, and other details about your backcountry preferences. Authentication tokens are generated for secure login.
Content You ProvideWe collect posts, comments, photos, trip reports, and any other information you choose to share in the community.
Device and Technical DataWe collect basic device details such as model, operating system, app version, crash logs, IP address, and push notification tokens. We do not collect or store precise GPS location data.
PaymentsPayment information is processed securely by Stripe. SlabLab does not store your full payment details.
CommunicationsWhen you contact us by email or in the app, we collect the information you provide so we can respond to your request.
3. Social LoginsYou may log in to SlabLab using Apple or Google in the future. If you choose a social login, we receive limited information such as your name, email address, and profile image as provided by those services. We use this data only to create and manage your account. Your use of social login is also governed by Apple’s or Google’s own privacy policies.
4. Cookies and Tracking TechnologiesWe use cookies and similar technologies on our website to help it function and to understand how it’s used.
Essential cookies help with login, preferences, and security. Analytics cookies from Google Analytics help us understand site performance and traffic. Email tracking pixels from Mailchimp or Resend help us measure engagement with marketing messages. We reserve the right to use Meta pixels to track ad performance. On our mobile app, we use PostHog to analyze usage patterns and improve the service. This includes tracking some user interactions and events.

5. How We Use InformationWe use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve SlabLab; authenticate users; process payments and subscriptions; send updates and notifications; respond to support requests; and analyze how people use the platform.
We also use anonymized data for research or to share with avalanche centers and research partners. This data cannot identify you.
6. Content and Marketing UseWhen you post to SlabLab, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content as part of the Service and to promote SlabLab. We will not use identifiable images or information without your consent. You can request removal of identifiable content at any time by emailing

7. Information SharingWe share information only with trusted partners that help us operate SlabLab. These include Stripe for payments, Supabase for authentication and storage, Mapbox for maps, Render for infrastructure, Mailchimp and Resend for email, and analytics services such as Google Analytics and PostHog. We may also share anonymized data with research partners or avalanche partners.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share data with advertisers.
8. Data RetentionWe keep your data as long as necessary to provide the service. Active accounts are retained until you delete them. Inactive accounts and logs are deleted after two years. Aggregated and anonymized data may be kept indefinitely.

9. Your RightsYou may access, correct, or delete your personal information, or opt out of marketing emails using unsubscribe links. You can also request account deletion or export by contacting

Since SlabLab currently serves only U.S. users, GDPR and similar international rights do not apply.
10. Data SecurityWe protect your data with HTTPS encryption, secure storage, and access controls. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS, and stored securely by providers such as Supabase and Stripe. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access or misuse.
11. Children’s PrivacySlabLab is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from minors.
12. Updates to This PolicyWe may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top and notify users by email or in-app message. Your continued use of SlabLab after updates means you accept the revised policy.
